Hot List: Bloody Marys!

We love a good brunch here at Hello Homes, and what makes a weekend brunch so awesome? Bloody Marys! We put together a list of our favorites in downtown GR.

Birch Lodge

Commonly known to regulars as “Church at the Birch,” the brunch special offers an awesome (and cheap) Bloody Mary bar, plus access to their free taco bar with the order of a drink! Be sure to beat the rush – this place fills up fast.

The Green Well

The fixings vary in the Green Well Pubby Mary but it is always delicious. You can expect the bartender to include smoked cheese, olives, pickled veggies, and more. Plus, it’s served with a side car of Michigan beer!Screen Shot 2016-01-21 at 6.35.31 PM

Stella’s

The weekend Rehab Brunch at Stella’s is sure to nurse you back to health, and their Bloody Mary bar doesn’t disappoint. Look for a variety of infused vodkas made in-house!

GRBC

Stop by Grand Rapids Brewing Company on the weekends for a Bloody Mary bar that offers a variety of fixings including stuffed olives, pickle juice, and sausage! It’s a meal in itself.

Donkey

If you’re up for something a little adventurous to liven up your weekend try the Bloody Maria at Donkey, which is made with tequila instead of vodka. Their Mexican brunch menu is delicious too!

If you can’t stand the thought of tomato juice and vodka, we recommend heading over to Maru to build your own Mimosa. They offer a great variety of fruit and juices to go with your champagne.

Cheers!

Hot List: Coffee!

Winter has officially arrived! There are few things the Hello Homes team loves more than a warm cup of coffee (Ok, maybe more than one some days). Where do we go to get our favorite cup of joe? Our HOT LIST will lead the way. Maybe we will see you there!

The Sparrows

This Eastown staple has quirky names on its menu (The Ex-Boyfriend is my personal fave), a chill vibe, and doesn’t break the bank. Also, the windows are always mysteriously steamy so there MUST be something warm going on there.

LanternLantern Coffee Bar and Lounge

Lantern is fairly new to the GR coffee scene but you wouldn’t know it by the taste. They make delicious cups of coffee and tea and are centrally located in the Heartside district of downtown. Wood tables and chairs give this place a relaxed and trendy feeling, perfect for casual or business meetings. It is a unique space because most of the seating is found on the lower level, which gives it a cozy, “underground” feel. And, they support local art!

Madcap Coffee

If you don’t know Madcap, then allow us to officially rock your coffee world! Madcap is everything a coffee shop should be with floor-to-ceiling windows, music, concrete tables, and one-of-a-kind drinks. They offer exotic teas, exquisite pour-over coffee, and a fresh, private coffee label with numerous types of blends. Madcap isn’t where you go to get a grande-double-no whip-skinny-hazelnut-without water-extra foam latte. No. This is REAL coffee. You’ll thank us later (preferably in Madcap gift cards).

Mayan Buzz Cafe

We like to think of Mayan Buzz as our little secret, but we know that won’t be true for long. Slightly hidden on Grandville Ave, this place has an extensive menu and it truly offers the flavor you crave without the high price tag. Plus, there’s a huge concrete fireplace and comfy furniture. Before you know it, one hour turns into a whole morning of productive-ness… and coffee. Or facebook-ing…. and coffee. Whatever you prefer to call it!

There you have it! You can often find us setting up shop at one of these exceptional establishments to get some work done. Give them a try! You don’t be disappointed.

Honorable Mention: Rowster New American Coffee, Clique Coffee Bar, The Bitter End Coffeehouse, Starbucks in the Amway Grand Plaza
